My gt grandfather was Stephen Geoghan and I believe he came from Galway, this was where he entered on the English 1901 census as his birthplace.
I have never met any of my Irish relatives, my mother never told me anything about the family,
My grandfather was Stephen Geoghan his surname was changed to Gagan when he was sent to Canada in 1885.
He was born 1873 in Stafford, and in 1881 he was with his sisters Laura and Grace, in the Stoke on Trent workhouse, from where they were sent to Canada.
Grandfather left Canada in 1900 with his wife Mabel (Grant) and Laura Maud their daughter (my mother, born 1896 in Ontario) and went to Glasgow Scotland.
I would love to know anything about my Irish relations, is there anyone else researching this name who could help, please?
