FRAZER

My great grandfather George Charles FRAZER was a Methodist minister in Newfoundland. It says on his marriage certificate (1888)that he was from Northumberland, England. He came to Newfoundland in the mid 1880's. I am looking for any connections back in England and also interested in where he possibly trained to be a minister. Any information greatly appreciated.

Hello Deb,
Here is a George Charles FRAZER from Northumberland on the 1881 census, but he was a Colliery Blacksmith at the time. Maybe he became a full minister when he came to Newfoundland.

Age 26 fits perfectly with the infromation I have for him. He died in 1902(the 19th year of his ministry) at age 47 meaning he was born around 1855 and would be 26 in 1881. He came to Newfoundland in 1883 according to some information from other members of my family. There is also reference to an Earsdon Parish on the marriage certificate. Would this make sense with the information from the 1881 census?

Hello Deb,
You will see from the following that Seaton Delaval was in the parish of Earsdon:-
