Charles HINDMARSH was reported missing in the Boer War (1902) but was later found to be alive. He died at 90 in Surrey! Was made a Freeman of the City along with other returning soldiers. His father & grandfather (originally from Ponteland) were both gamekeepers at Lilburn Tower before moving into Newcastle c1870.
