Hello, I'm trying to find any history on the Simpson family of Borrowdale.
My GGGGGGrandparents were John Simpson died 1845 and Mary Henderson born 1749 died 1810 and they lived in Stonethwaite and Low Door (sic). They had 8 children, including Thomas (GGGGGrandfather) in 1785. He married Tamar Wilson. Anyway, I'm especially interested in John and Mary's parents. And whether or not John later married Sarah Youdale (the queen of Borrowdale) - it is a long running debate!
Also, on of their children, William later changed his name to Walter Stephenson and we're interested why.
There's loads more but phew for now!
