Dear Stuart,
I have a rather complicated family tree, however the gist of it is that I have a George Tod md to a Margaret Adie (when?where-not sure). I can find about 5 or 6 children that belong to them in Dunfermline.
I have them in the Dunfermline 1851 census and this shows that George Tod was born in Perth, possibly Muckart (writing a little difficult to decipher)
He is a weaver and lives at Beveridgewells his wife is from Kinross.
Children so far:
James, born 5 Feb 1816, Christened 10 Feb 1816 in Dunfermline
Mary, born 11 Aug 1817, Christened 17 Aug 1817 in Dunfermline
Margaret, born 27 Sep 1819 in Dunfermline
Ann, born 5 Jan 1836 in Dunfermline
James, born 18 Feb 1838 in Dunfermline
Janet bn 1833
CENSUS
1851 Dunfermline Census
28b page 12
Beveridgewell
George Tod head marr 60 weaver employing 2 girls born Perth, Muckart?
Margaret Tod wife marr 54 weaver's wife born Kinross, Orwell
William Tod son un/m 27 weaver's son born Fife, Dunfermline
Janet Tod dau un/m 21 weaver's dau born Fife, Dunfermline
Ann Tod dau 15 weaver's dau born Fife, Dunfermline
James Tod son 13 weaver's son born Fife, Dunfermline
______________
So if George was 60 in the 1851 Census he would have been born abt 1791 in Perth.
I also have I think a relation- a William Tod md Janet Adie with respective children, she is from Kinross, however I am not sure if William is from Dunfermline or Kinross or Perth.
This family has lead me on a merry dance with the son William changing his surname from Tod to Adie/Addie/Eadie (which we realize now is his mothres maiden surname-Why? we have no idea!!
I hope that we may find a connection.
Regards
Christine
