I am trying to find information about my Great Grandparents, William and Helen Jean (Holmes) Martin. I have my grandmother's birth extract and it states that in 1911, they were living at 512 George Street, Aberdeen. It also says that it was extracted from the Register Book of Births, for the District of St. Machar in the burgh of Aberdeen. He was a Marine Stoker and based on an article that was in the newspaper after Pearl Harbor was attacked (he was 66 years old) he began his military service at age 17 with the Northumberland Fusilier Regiment. During World War I, he served as a chief petty officer on a minesweeper and was discharged in 1919. I believed he left Scotland for Canada shortly after that, because the same article states that he arrived in the United States in 1923 and his wife and four children joined him in 1927. If someone could help me, I would really appreciate it.
