Hi, I've been looking for info on my GGrandfather, John Phillips - DOB: February 1852 and Grandfather, John Phillips - DOB: October 1881, my Grandfather died in Colliers, NL date ????
>> I recently found info (not positive this is actually my family) as follows: GGrandfather, John Phillips - DOB: 1852 in Battersea, Surrey, England married GGrandmother, Ellen (McGrath - I know my grandmother was a McGrath from Colliers, Newfoundland) - DOB: 1850(1), although I recently found details that states my Grandmother was born in Scotland>>Children as William - DOB: 1878; James A. - DOB: 1880 and *John - DOB: 1881 - I do know my Grandfather's actual DOB is October 1881 >>> growing up I had no knowledge that my grandfather had siblings or even what their names might be.
>{Note: I have details from another site that states in a 1881 Census for Battersea @ 16 Goulden St. - John Phillips/age 29; Wife/Ellen/age 31; son/William/age 3; and son/James A./Age 1. As well another site lists details as follows: John Phillips/DOB 1852 and Ellen (McGrath)/DOB 1851 married on November 27, 1878}.
If I could verify that these are actually my GreatGrandparents and when/if they travelled to/from England and Newfoundland.
I had/have very little details regarding my PHILLIPS family research.>>> My father, Michael Cyril Phillips born October 23, 1922 and death January 12, 1985 at Colliers, NL - this is where he was born and grew up as well. There are no siblings or older family members left to make inquiries with. I've grown up where a lot of my parents families have passed at early ages so there's not much "oral" family history.
