RIVERS

Looking to find any records of my paternal grandfather. I am afraid I have little to go on save that his name was WILLIAM RIVERS. My father said he came from a place called TUDDERCOLRIE. That place name is spelled only by phonetics as father cannot remember how it was spelled nor how it was exactly pronounced. He said it was near Newcastle Upon Tyne. WILLIAM RIVERS was born in the middle to late 1800 and married SARAH GANNER. They had two children while still in England...Ernest and Florence. The family moved to the U.S.(not sure where, could be southern U.S.) when the children were small...any help on either the true name of the village/county or WILLIAM RIVERS would be appreciated...
Thank You
B. Rivers

Hello Bryan,
I think the name could be Tudhoe Colliery, which was near Spennymoor (Whitworth) in County Durham.
