Hi, I'm researching all BEST families of Co Durham and Northumberland in particular Thomas Turnbull Best born Standing Stone near Matfen in 1832 and his parents are
John Best b.1807 at Heddon on the Wall and Dorothy Jobling of Whickham Co Durham who were married 27 June 1829 at Stamfordham. John Best died at Sunniside in Co Durham in 1889 and was buried at Whickham St Mary's
The parents of John Best are James Best born Cockplay in Simonburn and Elizabeth Watson born Ryal. The were married at Ovingham on 1 Jan 1804.
Elizabeth Watson was the daughter of Robert Watson and Isabel Barron who both lived and died near Ryal near Stamfordham, and they married 26 Feb 1776 Stamfordham.
James Best's parents are John Best b. 1741 at Warden and Margery Wilson who were married 1 Jan 1775 at Simonburn.
John Best died at Hunstantworth in 1828.
Descendants of these families lived at Newbrough and the descendants of Thomas Turnbull Best were born in Stanhope in Weardale after he moved there after 1851.
