John Johnston was a Sailor in 1800 and by 1820 he had become a Shipmaster at Leith Midlothian. I am searching for his marriage to Sarah Ainslie, approx. 1795, possibly in Leith or Berwick-upon-Tweed. Other surnames connected Darge, McKay and Groves.

I have only just come across your post and you have probabley progessed ... but in case this is still live! I understand that they were married in Leith. They had 3 children, the eldest. Isabella b.1809 is my Great, Great Grandmother. John Johnson was master of the Lieth Smack 'Ocean', he died after a short illness in London in 1826. Darge, Mckay and Groves are not known to me.
