===========================
Otho Holland b. ca.1665 & Mahatabel Larkin-Lorkin b.1667 m. about 1684 near Annapolis MD. We guess his family came from Lancashire, Wales or London, because the given name "Otho" is used among the Lancashire Hollands.
Baines History of Lancashire gives 11 children of Thomas Holland (c.1580-c.1636) of Clyfton by his first wife, Elizabeth (Holden?): Thomas, Daniel, John, Robert, Leonard b.1610, Richard b.1612, Edmund b.1614, Elizabeth, Jane b.1609, Priscilla b.1616 & Dorothy b.1617. Thomas Sr. m2. Jane Irlam & they had one son, John bap.1626. Thomas Sr. was the only son of John Holland, second son of William Holland and Alice Werden. Johns wife may have been called Isabelle.
Baines gives 7 children of William Holland (1450-1522) and Alice, d/o Orsekell Werden of Leyland: Thomas, John (above), Francis, Leonard, Guy, William (m.Jane Parr) and Katherine (m.John Harrock -Horrox). The eldest son, also named Thomas, had 4 children who died childless: William d.1589, Robert d.1605, Thomas d.1565, & Eleanor m. Ralph Slade & d. 1613.
In 1597 Otho Holland of Newhall was contractd to marry Katherine, daughter of George Linne of Southwick, Notts. Otho died in 1620 seised of Garthall Houses in Pendleton, with land attached, held of the knig as his manor of Salford, with annual rent of 4d. His heir was his son, George, not quite of age (perhaps b.1604?). See Lancashire inquests post mortem in Rec. Soc. Lancs. & Ches. v.1, p.218.
In 1534 the prior of St. Thomas leased to Otho, son of George Holland of Eccles, land in Pendleton. The term was eighty years, but renewable up to 240 years, as shown by a deed dated 1719. Otho Holland contributed to the subsidy of 1541 (Rec. Soc. Lancs. and Ches.).
About 1361 Sir Otho Holland, KG, probably died in Normandy. He was the 23rd to be names a Knight of the Garter. During hostilities this gentleman captured the Earl of Ewe and a constable of France. The latter he allowed to bear arms and to leave England for Calais on parole, for which he was censured by some. Otho was given life use of the manor of Yokeshale, and permanant grants of the manors of Kersey in Suffolk, Taleworth in Surrey, and Chesterfield & Dalbery in Derby. I have not traced subsequent ownership of these manors, and do not know if Otto left legitimate ofspring. If these manors reverted to the crown, previously Otho had no legitimate sons.
