My grandfather, Edwin HOLDEN was born in Rochdale, Lancs. in 1837 and died in 1901. He married my grandmother, Florence Louise(a) DOBBINS at Salford, Lancs. 1886.
Grandfather HOLDEN was supposed to have been divorced from his first wife, a Miss TONGE, before marrying my grandmother, but I cannot find any trace of a marriage or divorce. Family anecdote say a special act of parliament was required for the divorce but I cannot think this was necessary at the time. Any help would be appreciated. Elsie Hemming
