I did some research a year ago and found at the time a Cuthbert DODDS, IGI Marriage 16 April 1815 at Slaley.
At the time I was looking for DODD surname in that area, mostly from Allendale and Hexham.
There were also a Thomas 1766 and william DODDS 1814 there.
A Walter & Alice DODDS is shown in the MIs for Whittingham c 1817
and Isabella & Thomas DODDS of Great Ryle in 1793.
This connected with a SYMM family and there was a Cuthbert SYMM 1858-1946

Thank you for responding to my message. I will add the information you have given to my database. I realised early on that Dodd and Dodds are fairly interchangeable. My mother was the only one of her 7 siblings registered as Dodd, hence considerable difficulty finding a birth certificate for her when she reached pensionable age!
