I am trying to find any info/data on the following family in Whitehaven, Cumberland, England, or the surrounding area:
JOHN HENRY PONSONBY, born 1878; listed his residency in England & Ireland in 1918 in Pittsburgh, PA. He apparently came to United States about 1905. He had 4 brothers and in family lore, his great aunt was Anna Louisa PONSONBY Hamilton (no documentation on this)
John Married:
ELEANOR (Nellie) NAVE about 1900 or before in Whitehaven. Eleanor was born 1878 in Whitehaven to WILLIAM NAVE and MARY ANN DIXON. Siblings know thru census and Ellis Island Port of New York were: Robert Nave (b. about 1878 married in St Nicholas Church Nov 5, 1905, wife's name unknown), Emily Nave (b. about 1884, Whitehaven) William Nave.
John Ponsonby and Eleanor Nave had 2 known children by birth: MABEL VICTORIA PONSONBY (Robinson) b. Jan 25, 1901 in Whitehaven & one son, name unknown, who died at the age of 4 years from an accident. In 1927, They formally adopted their Grandson, John Henry Ponsonby (Robinson) in Pittsburgh, PA, USA.
ANY info from England on this family is greatly appreciated!!! I know there is still some relatives in England.. just have nothing else to go on!
