I have a copy of my husbands'great grandmother Lilly Whitfield marriage license of sept 1 1896 she married Thomas Mitchell in Streator, Illinois, USA. Her parents are listed as Joseph Whitfield and Jane Nixon. It states she was born to them in Cumberland, England. Would you please have the time to tell me how to go about sending for her birth certificate, and where do I search for marriage license in England? Hope someone has time to help. Genealogy research in England is new to me I have only searched in the United States.
I will be on vacation to my home state of ILLinois for a few weeks. Will be flying United Airlines.
