I am looking for an Elizabeth Oxby who was born in England in 1839 according to Canadian records. She was married to a Peter Dell who was the father of Thomas G. Dell, both born in Canada in Norfolk county. Thomas was the father of my grandmother Jesse R Dell whose daughter was my mother Avis Mary Turner. They were both born in Michigan, USA. I have no idea where to start not knowing what part of England Elizabeth Oxby was born in in 1839. Any suggestions? Thanks, Harold
A search on freebmd came up with a birth registered in June quarter 1838

The registation district of Grantham spans the borders of Lancashire and Lincolnshire. The only way to find out if this is your ancestor is to get a copy of the birth certificate. With the information above you can get them directly from the GRO - information available on:

Interested in hearing more about Elizabeth Oxby - most Oxby types are clustered in Lincoln area which is North East England.
I am located in South Wales UK - but know of Oxby clan members in Canada (Toronto), New Zealand and Pennysylvania US.
Willing to do some legwork over here if it helps !
