John Mellis was appointed Assistant Surgeon in the Indian Medical Service 19 May 1812. As Lieutenant John Melliss Jnr he was an Officer of the Honorable East India Company Service, Garrison - St Helena in 1816
He is not listed in the 1814 census for the Island. But he is listed as living in Enfield or Knoll House at some time during the period 1815-1821. He is buried on the Island having died 25 Jul 1820.
