Lauder/Lawder

Lauder/Lawder
November 16, 2001 11:30AM
I am currently engaged in a one-name study of the Lauder family who for over 700 years were principal landowners in East Lothian and who intermarried with many of the others. I am interested in any information on this family, however miniscule it may be. I will also help others if I have information relevant to their families.

I am descended from the Lauders who lived on the Bass Rock in the Firth of Forth for several centuries. The earliest ancestor that we know of is Baron de Lavedre who was a Norman Baron living in Scotland.
In the 18th century some of the Lauders moved to Ireland and the spelling of the name was changed to Lawder. My great great grandmother was Alicia Lawder, eldest daughter of John Lawder.
Our family tree is detailed in the book "Lawders of the Bass" which I have a copy of . Is this the same family that you are researching ?
Regards
Lawder
