I am researching the Cowan family from Bo’ness, West Lothian, Scotland.
My great grandfather George Cowan was born in 1876 in Linlithgowshire and died in NSW, Australia in 1936. He arrived in NSW in 1912. Records of the 1901 Census show he was staying in a boardinghouse in London.
His father was Samuel Cowan who dies in Linlithgow in 1902. His son Robert Cowan of Castleloan, Bo’ness gave the details of his death to the registrar. Samuel’s wife Elizabeth Rowans predeceased him.
